Until now, a client could only express a preference by hearting a photo or not. Prooftide 1.3 adds three ways to say why: a text comment, a voice note, or a drawing, right on the photo.
From the gallery, your client can now leave a text comment, record a voice note right in their browser, or draw freehand on the photo to point something out: a closed eye, a stray hair, a crop they'd like. The drawing is a transparent overlay on top of the photo; the original file is never modified.
A comment doesn't depend on the heart: a client can annotate a photo without selecting it, or select one without adding anything. A note left on a photo they didn't end up picking is never lost.
Each annotation type (text, audio, drawing) toggles independently of the other two, gallery by gallery, in the Client annotations field when you publish. A gallery published before this update shows none of these options: nothing changes for your clients until you turn it on yourself on a new gallery.
Refresh list updates the comment count shown for each gallery. To retrieve them: check Include client annotations during your usual export of selected photos, or use the separate Download annotations to source folder button to grab annotations from any commented-on photo, selected or not. Each annotation is saved next to the original photo: a text file for the comment, an audio file for the recording, a PNG image for the drawing.
Update the app from the website, then turn on the annotation types you want under Client annotations when publishing a new gallery.
